To gourd artists and vendors of raw gourds

Just a note to inform you that this year’s Castle Valley Gourd Festival is on Saturday, October 20.
We had to skip last year, but we are back and wanted you to know this ahead of time.
As soon as the invitations are ready, we will send you one with more info.
We hope you are motivated to have a booth this year with wonderful gourd art and / or raw gourds.
And please, only gourds, no other products.
Not a gourd artist? Maybe you feel like making a gourd piece to donate to our Silent Auction. You don’t have to be a gourd artist to make a piece.

For info on the silent auction contact Trish: trishhawkins@frontier.com.

Of course we hope you feel like doing both!
No matter what, feel welcome to come to the festival!

We have started to work on the upcoming Castle Valley Gourd Festival!
We're excited and go at it with refreshed energy and ideas!

Maybe something you haven't seen before; here's a video made by one of the visitors
of the festival in 2007 (normally we do have more sun!).
Enjoy!

2012 Castle Valley Gourd Festival

Jumping 2011, when - due to circumstances out of our control - we did not have the gourd festival, this year's festival will be on Saturday October 20. (Not a week earlier as mentioned before. We deleted that post, as not to confuse people).
More information on this blog this summer.

Gourd Festival 2010 was a success!!!

This year's (10th) gourd festival was definitely the best ever.
For a small town (max 350) this was a big festival with over 400 visitors. Among them people from Canada, California, Illinois and other states.
The vendors showed a big variety of gourd art and there were a lot of raw gourds for sale. Our face painter Carol and fortune teller (with gourd cards) Alice were still painting and telling after the festival closed down at 3:00 pm. Kids and adults were lined up. The silent auction was also a success.
An award was given to the 'Gourd Mother' Cris Coffey, one of the founders of this festival and coordinator for all 10 years. A big thank you to her!
To celebrate this, we had our own Gourd Festival Calendar 2011 for sale:
With pictures of all the Gourd Festivals from 2000-2009.
The Gourd Goddess of this year, Tory, did a great job on her gourd costume as did a lot of others who were in the parade. Funny gourd hats and gourd bra's were shown in the biggest parade ever organized by Lou. Thank you, gal!
I want to thank everybody who made this such a success: the organisers, volunteers, parade participants, gourd artists, Miso, our sound man and visitors. Thank you all!
